When I was a kid, believe it or not, I hated McDonald’s. I used to tell my mom the burgers smelled like my dad’s feet. Back then, a trip to McDonald’s was considered a dinner night out. And, my reaction didn’t go over well with my dad. My mom, on the other hand, spoiled me by making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and stashing it in her purse. There was, however, one food I loved at McDonald’s, french fries with secret sauce. Of course, the secret sauce wasn’t compliant, but I can make anything compliant.
For those of you who know me, you know I love sauce. If its a dip, a sauce, or dressing, I’m all about it. So, when I decided to make my own version of secret sauce, I was truly excited when I mailed it.
SECRET SAUCE IS SIMPLE TO MAKE WITH VERY FEW INGREDIENTS
In order to make an incredible secret sauce, all you need is some typical ingredients in your refrigerator. First, you need some plant-based mayo. Because I cook without oil, I make my own Vegan Cashew Mayo. Then, you just need a few more ingredients:
- Dill pickle relish (or chopped dill pickles)
- Whole-grain mustard
- Minced garlic
- Onion powder
- Dried dill
Then, simply stir, cover, and place in the refrigerator until you are ready to put the secret sauce on your favorite burger or sandwich.
Recently, I made a tofu burger and secret sauce to spread on my burger buns. And, it was a big hit with the family.
Additionally, I serve secret sauce when I grill my Beet Burgers as well.
And, this sauce is really great on a Grilled Portobello Mushroom Burger too.
So, the next time you plan to cook burgers out, make a little yummy sauce to add a little something-something to your burgers.
